ABU DHABI 27th October 2015 (WAM) -- Emirates Classification Society 'Tasneef' recently participated in the 2nd Mare Forum Monaco Yacht Summit 2015 one of the most global and influential forums for the maritime and shipping industry that recently took place in Monte Carlo Monaco to raise the awareness of the UAE Yacht Code.

Speaking about the global impact of the UAE Yacht Code Rashed Al Hebsi CEO of Tasneef said "The UAE Yacht Code is the first of its type in the world for the yachting industry putting us at the forefront as a global regulator for large private yachts. UAE has the infrastructure the presence of service industry and yacht manufactures to become the global leader of this sector."

During the summit Omar Abu Omar Chief Operating Officer at Tasneef highlighted the positive impacts of the Yacht Code telling participants that earlier private yachts were registered as commercial yachts which puts limitations on the number of passengers and gross tonnage GT.

"The UAE Yacht Code does not bring any limitations in terms of size tonnage or number of passengers. However different level of safety requirements apply to yachts based on the operational area (coastal ocean or polar) gross tonnage and number of passengers. As an example yachts above 400 GT are to obtain a classification certificate" he said.

Abu Omar also emphasised that the Yacht Code is definitely a milestone in the UAE yachting industry as well as abroad. "As the first set of regulations to be developed for private (non-commercial) yachts in the world super yacht builders now have a strong set of rules and standards that will automatically place the 'made in UAE' yachts ahead worldwide" he said.
