Arab League supports efforts of UN special envoy's for Libya

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Arab League supports all diplomatic efforts, especially the ones by UN special envoy Bernardino Leon, which aim at reaching a political solution to the Libyan crisis, said a League statement on Monday.
Both Leon; the UN's special envoy for Libya, and Secretary General Nabil Al-Araby discussed earlier today latest developments in the Libyan dossier, chiefly the round of negotiations Leon is currently holding with different Libyan parties in Sukheirat, Morocco, noted the statement.
It also underlined significance of joint work between the two organizations in the fight against ISIL, as well as raising the level of Libyan security capabilities, which would enable it to regain control of the country.
Last Friday, at least five people were killed and 30 others wounded by rockets randomly fired at protesters who gathered in Benghazi; second largest city in Libya, to demonstrate against a UN-proposed peace deal.
People had gathered in the city to protest against the proposal of Leon's on forming a government of national unity.
Protesters raised signs written in English that called on Leon to leave the country and not to interfere in its affairs.
