Jordan- FM meets with Palestinian president


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Nasser Judeh, on Sunday, met with Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, and discussed with him the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, namely in occupied Jerusalem.

During the meeting, Judeh and Abbas emphasized the need to maintain constant coordination and consultation with the regard to the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The foreign minister renewed Jordan's firm stance calling for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital in line with international resolutions and the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative.

He stressed that the protection of Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem is a top Jordanian priority.

Abbas highlighted His Majesty's stance in supporting and assisting the Palestinian people to gain their legitimate rights, paying tribute to the Kingdom's endeavors to stop the recent Israeli aggressions and violations against Jerusalem's holy shrines.
