Top varsities for global education fair in Doha

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) More than 50 representatives of various universities, higher education institutions and government organisations from across the world are taking part in the Qatar Global Education Fair which opens in Doha on Tuesday.

The two-day event at Sheraton Doha aims to provide both high school and university students with an insight on the wide range of study options offered at higher education institutions in Qatar and 15 other countries.

At a press conference held yesterday, Qatar University (QU) vice president and chief academic officer Dr Mazen Hasna said part of the agenda, will comprise sessions in the form of workshops presented by renowned speakers from local and international institutions such as QU, Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), Education USA, English UK, University of California and Campus France.

"This event comes as part of QU's strategic plan to showcase its myriad undergraduate and graduate programmes and to strengthen its international reputation as a key partner in driving forward Qatar's stated ambitions to be a leader in quality education in the region," said Dr Hasna, who was joined by BMI president and CEO Samir Zaveri and HBKU provost Dr Khaled Ben Letaief.

The education fair is part of a series taking place in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Kuwait sponsored by QU and HBKU and organised by BMI.

Dr Hasna noted that the event is a great opportunity for high school, university students and their parents, as well as education professionals, to become acquainted with almost every type of study options and non-academic services that these institutions offer such as scholarships, recruitment, training and internships, among many others.

The education fair will also address a wide range of topics relating to studying overseas opportunities such as choosing the right specialisation, application and visa process, student accommodation, the role of an international degree in career progress, and many others.

"In a short space of time we have added a new dimension to the higher education landscape of Qatar € providing innovative, interdisciplinary undergraduate and postgraduate programmes," Dr Letaief said.
