Qatar- KAHRAMAA Tightens Grip on Conservation Law

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) underlined that it will ensure the implementation of the added clauses of the law on rationalization of water and electricity consumption, in accordance with the newly amended provisions in Law number (26) of 2008, promulgated through the Law number 20 of 2015.

KAHRAMAA said in a statement that the Conservation and Energy Efficiency Department, through its National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed), is taking all measures to stop extravagance of country's vital resources of electricity and water, ensuring Qatar's resources are protected for future generations.

In a move to check violations of the Law of the land, KAHRAMAA has unearthed almost 2800 cases of the violation of the law on rationalization of water and electricity consumption since the beginning of the year until August 2015. The number of violations for the electricity misuse was 1506 and for the water the total violations recorded were 1279.

The issuance of the new law compliments KAHRAMAA's ongoing Tarsheed campaign to encourage rationalization of water and electricity. The prime objective of Tarsheed is to reduce per capita water and electricity consumption in Qatar by 35% and 20%, respectively until 2017.
