(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Arab League Secretary General Nabil Elaraby Saturday met Arab Ambassadors to the United Nations hours after the Security Council met to discuss the Palestinian issue and the repercussions of the Israeli violations against the Al Aqsa Mosque and occupied East Jerusalem.

The league chief and the envoys agreed on future steps the Arab Group in New York will take to follow up on the discussion at the UN to ensure international protection to the Palestinians and the holy shrines.

Elaraby also discussed with UN Under-Secretary General for Political Affairs Geffrey Feltman the turmoil in the occupied Palestinian lands and the need for UN protection to Palestinians as well as the Syrian crisis after a quartet meeting of ministers from the United States, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Turkey on the conflict.

The head of the pan-Arab organisation and Feltman also discussed Libya, mainly the efforts of Special Representative and Head of the UN Support Mission in Libya Bernardino Leon towards forming a new government in the North African country. The war in Yemen was also on the agenda.
