KSA bears brunt of ME cyberattacks
(MENAFN- Arab News) JEDDAH: Eleven percent of all cybertattacks in the Middle East recently have been on sites based in Saudi Arabia according to a report by a leading security company.
Turkey has experienced 6 percent of the attacks said the report released by Fire Eye an American company according to an article in a local publication recently.
The company said that most of the attacks in the Kingdom have been in the education sector.
The hackers have been using developed tools such as Xtreme Rat and Spy Net which are available on the black market.
The report stated that hackers are attempting to steal personal information including the intellectual property of companies. The information is sold to the highest bidder.
Most attacks in the Kingdom were on government sites making up 61 percent with the education sector accounting for 29 percent according to a source.
Education and government sectors are among the most vulnerable in the Middle East with 29 and 61 percent consecutively. Governments and companies should draft electronic defense strategies to prevent the theft of valuable data the source said.
