(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) New York Muharram 11 1437 October 24 2015 SPA -- U.S. stocks closed sharply higher Friday after the Chinese central bank cut interest rates and three tech giants posted better-than-expected earnings.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 157.54 points or 0.9 percent to 17646.7. The S&P 500 index gained 22.64 points or 1.1 percent to 2075.15. The Nasdaq Composite added 111.81 points or 2.27 percent to 5031.86.
For the week the Dow rose 2.5 percent the S&P 500 gained 2.1 percent and the Nasdaq jumped 3 percent.
