Qatar- Unique LED lighting for Khalifa Stadium

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) A leading lighting expert with experience in illuminating major stadiums across the world said that the project at Khalifa International Stadium will be something completely unique.
"We were just recently awarded the contract for state-of-the-art LED pitch lighting for Khalifa International Stadium. We have done this for Stamford Bridge Chelsea, PSV Eindhoven, Amsterdam Arena, STVV Arena and some indoor multi-purpose halls (Lusail & Al Sadd Warm up Halls), but Khalifa Stadium is going to be by far the biggest. This is considered as the first World Cup stadium to be equipped with LED lighting, which is the future of lighting", said George Brax of Dutch company Philips.
For Brax, the work with the SC (Supreme Committee) has already begun as his company will be supplying the lighting technology at Khalifa International Stadium, which is one of six stadiums currently under construction and will be the first proposed host venue in Qatar to be completed in late 2016.
"The floodlights are now digital, so you can have the same system for entertainment and general lighting. This is useful for creating shows, addressing each and every floodlight, controlling and dimming it, spectators experience will be fantastic. Stadiums are becoming a big theatre for multi-purpose uses, so you need flexibility in lighting. Spectators would love to come earlier and leave later after the game, we've seen that at Chelsea," he explained.
The Dutch expert added that work on the lighting system at Khalifa International Stadium would begin shortly and that spectators can expect an entirely new match experience as a result.
"Things are really changing with the lighting shows you can create before, after and even during half times of a match. We expect to have this technology installed at Khalifa Stadium in January-February."
