Iranian MFZ sees USD6b goods transit in 2015


(MENAFN) Iran's Maku Free Zone (MFZ) has been receiving great interest from overseas investors upon the sanctions relief, which adds to the whole positive perspective concerning Iran's economic situation.

MFZ offers great potentials for investment in view of its location on the border with Turkey, moreover; in the year to mid-March 2015, goods worth almost USD6 billion and USD5.5 billion were transited and exported, respectively.

A top company in which China holds a 70 percent stake has already begun constructing a power plant in the zone, plus an Indian firm has also plans to establish an aluminum plant which will come to operation in 2017.

MFZ's Organization was launched to administer affairs of the zone and implement economic development projects, encourage the flow of foreign funds to the country, raise revenues, boost employment, regulate labor and goods market.
