Palestinian Premier Meets UN Chief
(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah met today with United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
During the meeting Hamdallah said the current situation in Palestine, specially in Jerusalem and Al Aqsa mosque, could not continue, stressing that the deterioration of the situation was due to Israeli division of the holy Haram, infringement on the situation in Al Aqsa mosque, the ongoing settlers stormings and their continued aggression on citizens.
''We are against any form of religious war, Hamdallah,'' said noting that the Palestinian community is an example of religious co-existence. He said Israel claimed that the Palestinians ignited the situation though it continued its violations against citizens and sanctuaries as well as military escalation.
The Palestinian Prime Minister also reiterated the call of the Palestinian leadership for the provision of international protection to Palestinian citizens after Israel used excessive force against the legitimate peaceful resistance against the Israeli occupation.
Hamdallah also discussed witht the UN Chief means of supporting the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for the Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and means of acceleratiing the reconsteruction process in Gaza Strip.
