Abdullah bin Zayed meets Moroccan FM

FES 20th October 2015 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foreign Minister today met with Salaheddine Mezouar Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Morocco.

The two sides reviewed the strong relations between the UAE and Morocco as well as progress and development made in various fields thanks to the support and attention given by the two countries' leaderships to the advantage of the joint interests of the two peoples and countries.

During the meeting they discussed the overall developments in the Arab regional and international arenas and exchanged views on a number of issues of mutual interest. They also confirmed the importance of exerting all possible efforts to bring peace security and stability to the region.

During the press conference held with Mezouar Sheikh Abdullah underscored that the fraternal relations between the UAE and Morocco are a role model in the constructive bilateral ties among fraternal countries.

He also noted that his visit came in the light of strengthening consultations exchange of views and continuation of visits and meeting as well as promoting cooperation with Morocco in all domains.

He added that he had discussed with his Moroccan counterpart an array of regional and global issues especially the latest developments witnessed in the Palestinian Cause as well as discussing all possible ways to put an end to what is happening in Jerusalem.

Sheikh Abdullah also confirmed the UAE's supportive stances for the efforts being exerted by Morocco to maintain its territorial integrity pointing out that the UAE understands the position of the Libyan House of Representatives regarding its request to extend the transition period to avoid any constitutional vacuum in Libya.

On his part Mezouar welcomed the visit of Sheikh Abdullah and his accompanying delegation expressing his satisfaction at the high-level relations between the two fraternal peoples and countries.

He also underlined that Sheikh Abdullah's visit underscores the two countries leadership's keenness on developing bilateral ties and ensure the implementation of the agreements signed previously. He also noted that the UAE and Morocco were working together to find ways to fight extremism in all its forms.

The Moroccan minister also added that they have discussed coordination between the UAE and Morocco to implement joint and diversified projects in a number of countries especially in Africa.

Meanwhile Sheikh Abdullah and Mezouar received the first group of diplomats who will benefit from the training courses conducted in the Emirates Diplomatic Academy and the Moroccan Academy for Diplomatic Studies that come in implementation to the Memorandum of Understanding MoU signed by the two ministers in the presence of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces last March.

Al Asri Al Dhaheri UAE Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco attended the meeting.
