KPI celebrates completion of Q8, Shell Italy merging


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait Petroleum International (KPI), or (Q8), has held a major function to celebrate the completion of Q8 and Shell Italy fueling stations merging.
The celebration was held in Rome and attended by KPI Italy staff members, Acting Vice-President of KPI Europe Khaled Al-Mushaileh and Managing Director of Kuwait Petroleum Italia Alessandro Gilotti.
KPI Chief Executive Officer Bakheet Al-Rashidi held a meeting with the KPI-Italy staff in the main office in Rome and spoke to the function participants through video conference to congratulate them on completing the merging of Shell Italy assets and outlets in a record time.
After this successful acquisition, the KPI-Italy has become the second biggest fuel supplier in the European country, Al-Rashidi said in his speech on the occasion.
He noted that the KPI merging teams have managed to overhaul a number of stations, develop logistical services, complete data systems link with the shell stations and changing the commercial brand to Q8easy in a short time.
In a statement to KUNA, Al-Rashidi said that spectacular success of the merging showed the importance of the investing in development of human resources.
This is a great chance for cultural and occupational expansion of Kuwaiti cadres who partake in the KPI overseas projects, he added.
As part of the celebration, Al-Rashidi, Al-Mushaileh and Gilotti inaugurated a full service filling station in Milan's town of San Zenone al Lambro.
Al-Rashidi pointed out that the revamped station sells ethane fuel and liquefied natural gas in addition, to conventional petrol and diesel fuels.
He noted that preserving the environment is a top priority for the KPI, so it is keen on expanding in production of eco-friendly products.
On 20 February, 2014, KPI announced reaching an agreement with Shell for the acquisition of shares in the companies containing Shell's Retail, Supply & Distribution logistics and Aviation businesses in Italy.
Shell distributes and markets petroleum products in Italy through a retail network of more than 800 outlets, mainly located in Northern Italy supported by an efficient logistic structure. The retail network will be converted to the Q8 brand, it stated after the signing.
In the aviation business Shell operates in the most important Italian airports supplying aviation fuels.
