Turkey- Man targeted in Islamophobic attack on London bus

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) An investigation into an Islamophobic attack on a man thought to be of Turkish origin is underway in London police said Monday.

Video that appeared online on Sunday appeared to show the man being verbally abused by a black man on the bottom deck of a London bus.

The attacker is then seen throwing the passenger’s walking frame from the double-decker bus.

The attack took place in Tottenham an area of north London with a significant ethnic Turkish population on Saturday.

“This video footage - which includes racist and Islamophobic abuse - has been brought to the attention of the [police]” the Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

It added: “Detectives are working to establish precisely when and where the footage was taken.”

The three-minute-long video which appearedon the 5Pillars website showed the assailant shouting at a man on the bus.

“Nobody understands you! Go back to Turkey and talk that s… That’s why you are here! F… free benefits on a walker”the suspect is heard saying.

The video thenshows the man throwing the walker - seemingly belonging to the victim - from thebusbefore leaving thebuswith a child’s buggy.

Anothervideo that appeared online last week showed two Muslim women one of whom was pregnant being verbally abused in an allegedly Islamophobic attack by another woman on abus.

A woman has since been charged with a racially or religiously aggravated public order offense over the Oct. 13 incident.
