Preparatory meeting for GCC health cmte kicks off in Doha


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) A preparatory meeting was held in the Qatari capital Monday ahead of the forthcoming second meeting of GCC Health Ministers Committee, slated for October 21st in Doha.
The meeting is to discuss a number of important subjects, Dr. Saleh bin Ali Al-Marri, Assistant Secretary General for Medical Affairs in Qatari Supreme Council of Health (SCH), said in his opening speech.
The meeting's outcomes, to be submitted to the ministerial panel next Wednesday, would contribute to the issuance of important resolutions that serve Gulf citizens, and achieve further progress in health services in GCC countries, Al-Marri said.
The GCC has attained several significant accomplishments, he noted, adding that joint cooperation among Gulf states have also contributed to attaining many health and medical achievements that benefited Gulf citizens.
For his part, Abdulaziz bin Fahad Al-Humoud, head of health affairs department at GCC General Secretariat, expressed his hope for important outcomes from the meeting that assist in boosting health sectors in Gulf states.
The second meeting of GCC Health Ministers Committee is to discuss a number of important issues, including a report on decisions made by the supreme and ministerial councils regarding the health field, in addition to possibilities of their implementations, as well as equality among Gulf citizens in health services.
The meeting will also discuss coordinating efforts among GCC states in dealing with emergency crisis and situations concerning pharmaceuticals, vaccines, medical accessories, health funding, and full health coverage.
Anti-smoking, international health regulations, achieving development goals, consolidating Gulf States stands in international health conglomerates, and strategic cooperation with Jordan, Morocco, and Turkey are also among other subjects in the meeting.
