850 Palestinians detained, tortured in Israel jails in October

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Israeli occupation forces have arrested 850 Palestinians since the beginning of October, the Palestinian Authority for Prisoners Affairs said in a statement on Monday.

It said the number of detained children rose to 300, most of them languishing in the Israeli Ofer and Megiddo prisons. At the moment of their arrest, all Palestinian prisoners had been beaten constantly and subjected to torture.

The prisoners' committee urged all international human rights organizations and parliaments to intervene and stop legalizing minors arrest, adding that the Israeli government constantly torture those children, who stand trial before military courts.

The Israeli Justice Minister Eilat Shaked said that she intends to submit a bill to the Israeli Knesset that allows the arrest and prosecution of children under the age of 14.
