China's power usage slumps 0.2 percent in Sept


(MENAFN) Based on recent official data, China's electricity consumption decreased a marginally 0.2 percent to 456.3 billion kilowatt hours (kwh) in September.

Power use increased 0.8 percent from a year earlier to 4.13 trillion kwh in the nine months to September, accordingly, the nation's GDP rose by 6.9 percent y-o-y in the July-Sept period.

The diverse rates revealed positive changes in China's economic structure, as the service sector is taking an increasingly larger share than the power-consuming industrial sector.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, over the first nine months, the service sector took up 51.4 percent of China's GDP, as opposed to 40.6 percent share of the industrial sector.
