ABU DHABI 19th October 2015 (WAM) -- Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council QCC has showcased an innovative laboratory management system as part of its participation in GITEX Technology Week.

The laboratory management system is a fully automated system that enables internal and external laboratory processes to work through a single electronic platform. The system allows regulators manufactures suppliers and traders to submit product samples for testing at the Central Testing Laboratory CTL manage their information and view the status of their requests streamlining the workflow of managing samples throughout their lifecycle from registration to testing to the final report generation.

The system manages internal sub-processes at CTL including invoicing sample distribution work flow approval and lab performance management serving as an integrated gateway to external systems of customers while also allowing easier transfer of requests and results between entities.

Mohammed Helal Al Balooshi Marketing and Communications Acting Director QCC said "The laboratory management system has been developed as part of our sustained efforts to adopt latest technologies to ensure the better performance and easier management of QCC's core task of quality and conformity testing. Through replacing manual activities such as sample submission barcoding distribution and recoding in log books with automated processes we seek to improve the performance of CTL while facilitating effective interaction with our customers by enabling them to view sample information and workflow status throughout the entire testing process."

He added "Integration of test equipment and automation of results provides significant savings with regard to the reduction of manpower and time required to execute testing. This has resulted in 40% improvement in delivery of services by our labs."

Major clients of the CTL can register information and submit test requests directly from their respective systems. A case in point is Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority that uses the system to register samples for testing directly from the inspection fields. Dashboards have been developed for the system to offer the client an accurate view of the current status of the operations in the lab.
