30 ministers expected for Asian Energy Roundtable


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Under the patronage of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the Ministry of Energy and Industry will organise the 6th Asian Ministerial Energy Roundtable (AMER6) in coordination with the International Energy Forum (IEF) in Doha on November 9.
HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, is scheduled to open the roundtable in the presence of a large number of energy ministers from Asia as well as many international energy organisations.
HE the Minister of Energy and Industry, Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada, also AMER6 chairman, said the 6th round of the biannual meeting would be held at a very critical time, in view of the recent developments in the energy industry.
He added that AMER6 was particularly significant since Asia was home to the world's largest oil and gas reserves and most of the world's energy consumers.
Dr al-Sada also announced that invitations had been sent to some 30 ministers from Asian countries that are members of the International Energy Forum.
Sheikh Mishal bin Jabor al-Thani, chairman of the AMER6 Organising Committee, said the Ministry of Energy and Industry had made all necessary arrangements to ensure the success of the prestigious event.
He added that most of the invited ministers, as well as senior officials from international organisations such as OPEC, IEF, OAPEC, GECF, OFID and IEA, had already confirmed their attendance.
