German FM terms talks with Iranian officials "constructive


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier Sunday described as "constructive" his talks with the Iranian officials.
He said he held "constructive" talks with President Hassan Rouhani and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
Steinmeier, during a meeting with the Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, said his visit was the first by a German foreign minister and that Berlin was ready promote economic, trade and political relations and cooperation.
He voiced relief for the resolution of the Iranian nuclear agreement with the P5+1, ending some 12 years of negotiations.
Germany is part of the P5+1 group that also consists of the US, Russia, Britain, France and China - the five permanent members of the UN Security Council (UNSC).
Rafsanjani said the visits of Western officials to Tehran following the signing of the nuclear agreement was an indication of the will to promote relations and cooperation between the two sides.
He said the Iranian people and government were looking forward to cementing relations with all European countries.
Rafsanjani said countries in the region needed to join hands in the fight against terrorism.
