1295 families in three countries to benefit from ration packets

DOHA: Sheikh Eid Charitable Foundation has selected Jordan Mali and Comoros to distribute ration packets to families without breadwinners.

A total of 1295 families will benefit from the project said Ali bin Khalid Al Hajari Head Foreign Projects at the foundation.

The list includes 260 families from Jordan 664 from Mali and 371 from Comoros.

The packets will contain rice and edible oils in large quantities and for a family to last more than a month he added. Each packet will cost up to QR400.

The initiative is being launched for the third year in a row.

In the first year the project attracted donations totalling about QR2.26m. A total of 6963 families benefited — about 1000 from Sudan 500 from Somalia 1000 from Indonesia 287 from Pakistan 1500 from Yemen 300 from Ethiopia and 1844 from Palestine.

In the second year packets worth QR301000 were distributed to 336 families in Somalia and 500 in Yemen.

So far packets are being provided for families of orphans once a year and the foundation plans to distribute on a monthly basis.
