Palestinian youths clash with Israeli settlers in Nablus


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Dozens of Palestinian youths clashed with a group of Jewish settlers who tried to reach the so-called Joseph Tomb in the West Bank city of Nablus.

A number of settlers were injured in the confrontations, during which some vehicle they used to reach the site, were also burned.

Israeli Yedioth Ahronoth daily said that around 30 settlers arrived Sunday dawn at the area without coordination with the Israeli army, noting that Palestinian youths pelted the settlers with stones and burned a number of their vehicles.

The Israeli army arrived later at the scene and secured the departure of the settlers in coordination with Palestinian security forces.

The newspaper said that the Israeli army arrested 5 settlers while the other managed to flee the area.

The settlers claimed that they were beaten up by the Palestinian security forces.
