Israel deploys 300 soldiers in occupied Jerusalem


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)The Israeli occupation army Sunday morning began deploying hundreds of soldiers in occupied Jerusalem to patrol public transportation stations, buses and major traffic arteries, in a move described by the army as a step that aim at "protecting the city from possible attacks", Israeli media websites reported.

The Hebrew Walla website said the move follows a decision by the cabinet to "bolster security" in Jerusalem by deploying 300 troops to support the Israeli police in their mission.

The Israeli army also posted reinforcements along the border with the blockaded Gaza Strip " to counter Palestinians".

The latest measure comes several days after concrete barriers and random checkpoints were established in the occupied Jerusalem.
