(MENAFN) Volkswagen, the troubled German automaker giant, plans a cut in temporary workers as part of efforts to offset the cost of the emissions scandal.
The firm's outlook for its employment levels and sales were unpredictable, having on Friday registered lower September supplies for its core autos division.
Meanwhile, the scandal could cost Volkswagen as much as USD40 billion to cover vehicle refits, regulatory fines and lawsuits, based on analysts' reports.
"If employment deteriorates temporarily, shortened working hours will be a reasonable option," stated an official at Volkswagen.
