(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Kuwaiti students, supported by National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim, have commended their participation at the 133rd session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), hoping for partaking in another meeting in the future to help more students benefit from this experience.
On the sidelines of the preparatory meetings of the IPU, Othamn Al-Omar, a student at Faculty of Social Sciences of Kuwait University, expressed his gratitude to Al-Ghahim and the university for this good move that helped outstanding students attend events which serve their specializations. He told reporters in a statement that the participation at the meetings had positive outcomes and an enriching experience from which many students benefited, referring that students attended the Arab coordinative meetings in which many Arab delegations were present.
He added participants were greatly keen on solving the Arab problems and the crisis of refugees as well as the continued crimes committed by the Israeli forces against the "disarmed Palestinians". Al-Omar said the experience was useful for him, adding he will convey to his colleagues how to apply theoretical study practically and the honorable representation of the Kuwaiti lawmakers at the international scenes.
On her part, Hend Al-Duwairi, a student at Kuwait University, thanked Al-Ghanim for helping students attend the meetings, saying it was a "wonderful and unique" experience that achieved the targets.
In a similar statement to KUNA, she said that she had learnt many useful and key things from the meetings in which she participated, noting this experience mirrored MPs' interest in the issues of youth and students in particular.
In a previous statement, Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr. Bader Al-Issa lauded Al-Ghanim's initiative that helped students know the role of MPs.
Also MP Auda Al-Ruwaie has extolled the same initiative, saying it is the first one in its kind that will have positively affect students.
MP Saif Al-Azmi hoped that the next step will include a participation of a large number of students in the parliamentary conferences on both regional and international levels.
He said that parliamentary acts discuss all political, diplomatic, economic, financial, environmental issues and others, noting it is an opportunity for students to take advantage of this experience.
