UAE makes a mark in Frankfurt Book Fair

The participation of the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (ADTCA) with its book-related agencies at the Frankfurt Book Fair will help establish relationships with publishers in the industry and promote cultural events that focus on book authorship editing translation and publishing said Ali bin Tamim Secretary-General of the Shaikh Zayed Book Award and a member of ADTCA's Board of Directors.

Prominent agenda for the fair includes planning sessions with cultural and publishing houses as well as Italian government entities to design a 'Guest of Honour' programme for the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair's next edition.

"The Abu Dhabi book fair is attracting more international publishers" said bin Tamim noting that a number of agreements were concluded with international publishing houses as well as the Kalimat translation project designed to translate modern books from Arabic into different languages.

The ADTCA delegation met several writers publishers and translators in its pavilion with the aim of enriching the Abu Dhabi Book Fair's cultural and professional programme and to seek new proposals that reflect the latest technological developments in the publishing industry.

"The authority has joined with other UAE cultural institutions and government entities which include the Emirates Centre for Studies and Research the Sharjah Book Authority Ministry of Culture and the Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Establishment to participate in the fair" he added.

Although there are various activities bin Tamim added the objective is clear: to cast light on the UAE's cultural achievements and showcase its rich content to the fair's visitors.
