Kosovo Man Arrested for Islamic State Hacking


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly)The Malaysian authorities arrested Ferizi on Thursday on a US arrest warrant alleging that he hacked into a US company's computer system took the personal details of more than 1300 US military and government staff and passed them on to an Islamic State militant.

Ferizi is believed to be the leader of a hacking group called Kosova Hacker’s Security the US justice department said in a statement.

The statement alleged that Ferizi also known by his hacking nickname Th3Dir3ctorY unlawfully provided obtained information to Islamic State member Junaid Hussain alias Abu Hussain al-Britani between June and August 2015.

On August 11 this year Hussain tweeted: “NEW: U.S. Military AND Government HACKED by the Islamic State Hacking Division!” with a hyperlink to a 30-page document.

The document contained a threat to the US: “We are in your emails and computer systems watching and recording your every move we have your names and addresses we are in your emails and social media accounts we are extracting confidential data and passing on your personal information to the soldiers of the khalifah who soon with the permission of Allah will strike at your necks in your own lands!”

It also contained the names email addresses passwords and phone numbers of 1351 US military and other government personnel.

“This posting was intended to provide ISIL [Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant] supporters in the United States and elsewhere with the PII [personally identifiable information] belonging to the listed government employees for the purpose of encouraging terrorist attacks against those individuals” the US justice department said.

Malaysia’s Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar was reported by the malaysiainsider.com website as saying that the suspect is 20 years old and entered Malaysia in August to study computer science.

"From our investigations it was found that the suspect had communicated with one of the senior leaders of the ISIS militant group in Syria with the aim of hacking several computers which contain information on the American security forces before passing it on to the operations unit of the group for further action" he said in a statement.

The US is now seeking the extradition of Ferizi.
