French Carrefour reports 4.2 percent rise in sales in Q3

(MENAFN) Carrefour, the world's second largest retailer group, saw its sales rise by 4.2 percent over the third quarter this year from the same period a year earlier.

The company cited boosted sales in Latin American markets as the reason for the increase, according to a company's press release.

From July to September, Carrefour's sales stood at USD24.4 billion, due to an "accelerating organic growth in Europe, notably in Spain and Italy, and excellent performance in Latin America".

Sales in Latin American countries jumped by 16 percent to USD13.64 billion, pulled higher by strong demand in Brazil, the group's second main market, where it reported a 12.2-percent rise in sales.
