Jordan- JEI takes part in technology awareness event


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Jordan Education Initiative (JEI), for the second successful year in a row, participated in Green Light for Girls, an event that aims to spread awareness among young girls and inspire their future studies and careers through including science and technology.

The initiative also seeks to encourage young girls to adopt this method in their schools and communities in order to enhance women's participation in the fields of study including science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

"Green Light for Girls in Jordan", that was hosted at the Amman Baccalaureate School, was sponsored by a number of companies including Estarta, Cisco Systems, Cisco Networking Academy, Umniah, Microsoft, Hello world Kids, Al chemist Lab, Pharmacy One, INJAZ, King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD), Texas Instrument, Girls in Tech in addition to Roya TV in addition to Amman Baccalaureate School.

The event included 10 workshops that presented to students scientific and technological concepts in an interesting scientific manner that touches their daily life and reflects commitment of the participating parties to the empowerment of women in the scientific and technological fields to serve the community as well as development.

This Scientific and Technological Day involved 150 students from 4 private schools including Amman Baccalaureate School, Al Ridwan Schools, The Ahliyya School for Girls and Al Mashrek School as well as 3 public schools including Al Jandaweel Secondary School for Girls, Mahes Secondary School for Girls and Al Yarmouk Basic school, where the Jordan Education Initiative implements its technological model.

Greenlight for girls is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to inspire girls of all ages and backgrounds to pursue STEM subjects - Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics - by introducing them to the world of science in fun and exciting ways.

Headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, the organisation has expanded since its establishment in 2010 to include 5 continents, 10,000 students and 1000 volunteers.
