Iraqi Prime Minister Meets US Congressional Delegation


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al Abadi met today with a US congressional delegation, currently visiting Baghdad.

Talks during the meeting dealt with developments in Iraq and progress of military operation in Salaheddin and Anbar provinces against Daesh forces.

The prime minister's information office said in a press release today that the packages of reforms announced by the Iraqi prime minister, armed forces training programme, and the US support to Iraq in various fields were also discussed.

The US delegation expressed support for the reforms made by Al Abadi despite the difficult circumstances Iraqi is going through, confirming Washington's readiness to provide assistance in the field of economic reform and provision of expertise, in addition to the continuation of the international support to Iraq in its efforts aimed to liberate its territories from Daesh and the repatriation of the displaced people.
