Top four desserts to die for in the UAE

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) 'Dessert' is a word that brings instant gratification to the common non-carb conscious eaters in all of us and just as much envy to those who stare and drool and never dare to touch it.

The word 'dessert' is derived from the French word 'desservir' which simply means 'to clear the table'. The term originated in the 14th century but attained its current meaning around the beginning of the 20th century.

The UAE is a well-known hub for restaurants serving a mix of desserts that are creative and tantalising to the taste buds. Here's a look at some of the UAE's favourite desserts according to social media popularity:-

1) The chocolate lava cake from Chili's is the defacto popular choice not just in the UAE but around the world, with its warm chocolate brownie filled with molten chocolate lava and topped with vanilla ice cream.

2) El Chico serves up the crowd favourite with the Mexican Apple Pie, which is a lovely way to end your meal.

3) Want local flavour? The date quesadilla is a Dubai concoction. Tortilla bread filled with seasoned dates and served with a scoop of ice cream. This ice cream goodness from Cantina Laredo is a hidden gem found in Abu Dhabi.

4) Cakes are always an option and none are better than the mandarin orange cake from Silver Fox (pictured). A succulent dessert should be the final destination for anyone strolling down Dubai City Walk.
