(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency)Brussels Dhu-AlHijjah 29 1436 October 13 2015 SPA -- More than 710000 migrants and refugees have arrived
in the European Union from January through the end of September more
than double the number of arrivals seen in all of last year the
bloc's Frontex border agency said on Tuesday according to dpa.
Its executive director Fabrice Leggeri spoke of "unprecedented
flows" of people.
In September the movement of people eased slightly however with a
total of 170000 migrants detected at the external borders of the
28-country EU - down from 190000 in August.
"Syrian refugees remained the dominant nationality among the arriving
migrants" Frontex said in a statement.
