(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) The Grand Mufti of the Republic "Kosovo" and the President of the Islamic chiefdom in Kosovo Sheikh Naim Trnava praised Qatar's interest to develop and manage Waqf for rendering services of charitable works.
During his visit to the General Directorate of Endowments (Awqaf) at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Trnava pointed to the role of Islamic Waqf throughout history in the development of community, promotion of solidarity's principle and providing needs to the poor and reducing burden at state level.
He pointed to the role of Islamic sheikhdom and the European institutions in Kosovo to maintain the Islamic values and principles among Kosovo's people through mosques and Qur'anic schools, which are supervised by the sheikhdom. About 95 percent of Kosovo's population are Muslims .
During his visit, he was briefed by the officials on Awqaf's activities and efforts in developing endowment and rendering services to the community.
