Turkey: AK Party suspends rallies until Friday


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly)Justice and Development (AK) Party has suspended all its rallies in Turkey until Friday it was announced Monday.

AK Party Deputy Chairman Omer Celik told reporters in Ankara on Monday that after Friday Turkish Prime Minister and AK Party Chairman Ahmet Davutoglu would hold “peace and brotherhood” rallies “against terror”.

Celik also said that Turkish officials were trying to nab perpetrators of Saturday's twin bombings in Ankara which killed 97 people adding that an administrative investigation was being conducted.

"Therefore if there is a security weakness what is necessary will be done. Any weakness will not be covered up" he said.

He underlined that there should be one voice against terror andadded that his party was against all kinds of expressions that encouraged violence to the public.

At least 97 people were killed and more than 240 people were injured in Saturday's twin bombings in front of Ankara’s main train station according to Turkish Prime Ministry. Three days of mourning for the victims were declared across Turkey early Saturday.

The bombings came about three weeks ahead of Turkey’s Nov.1 early general elections.
