Kuwait- National Fund for SME Development to hold 1st forum on Oct. 21
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The National Fund for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Development announced that it will hold its first forum on 21-22 October under the auspecies of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. In a press statement, the fund said that Minister of Commerce and Industry Dr. Yousef Al-Ali would inaugurate the forum that will host a number of distinguished regional and international speakers including Lord Jonathan Marland, Advisory Board Member at the National Fund, and Mrs. Anabel Gonzalez, Senior Director at the World Bank Group.
The forum's agenda will focus on key themes related to the development of small and medium enterprises in Kuwait, the statement said, adding that there will be panel discussions and organized in-depth sessions to discuss regional, Asian, and international expertise in the area of SMEs and entrepreneurship.
The forum will showcase and explore an important aspect of entrepreneurship and SME culture in Kuwait and highlight their contribution in the national economy, it said. The fund encourages field related experts and those who are interested in SME development to attend the forum and offer their insight, advice and suggestions to challenge and inspire the local SME sector and further encourage and help develop SMEs and entrepreneurship in Kuwait.
In April 2013, the Government has enacted the Law No. 98 of 2013 to establish the National Fund for SME Development, with the aim of helping the country make a major stride in the efforts to support the youth, combat unemployment and enable the private sector to drive economic growth.
