Jordan- FM meets UN official


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Deputy prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh on Monday, discussed with Executive Director of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Grete Faremo, cooperation between Jordan and the UN organization.

The two sides stressed the importance of the UNOPS's support to development, economic and reform projects being carried out by Jordan.

Judeh highlighted the importance of UNOPS's role in this regard, pointing to the burden shouldered by Jordan as a result of hosting more than 1.6 million Syrian refugees, who are putting an increasing pressure on infrastructure and local communities. He also called for providing support to Jordan to enable it to continue its humanitarian role towards the refugees.

During the meeting, Judeh and Faremo also reviewed efforts of the UN official to secure more aid for Jordan and the region in addition to ideas related to financing infrastructure projects in the Kingdom by international investors.

Faremo stressed the UNOPS's support to Jordan's development and reform programs.
