(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Maha Ali, on Saturday, said the ministry is currently working, in cooperation with the private sector, to find new markets for Jordanian exports, especially in Africa.
During a meeting with South Africa's Ambassador to Jordan John Davies, Ali said the Jordanian exports were hit by the unrest in Syria and Iraq, where it lost two of its most important traditional markets.
She added that the ministry is currently considering, in coordination with the private sector, the possibility of signing free trade agreements with African countries, such as South Africa, to stimulate Jordanian exports movement and increase the size of trade volume with these markets.
The minister stressed the importance of the joint work with South Africa to increase the volume of trade exchange and encouraging the private sector to set up investment projects and benefit from the opportunities available in Jordan.
The South African ambassador said his country is keen to establish well-developed economic relations with Jordan and increase the volume of trade exchange, to benefit from the available investment fields in the Kingdom.
