The seasoned American band with two decades of touring under their belt showed no signs of slowing down as they opened their two-hour plus set with the rousing One Sweet World
Playing for the first time in the Middle East, the band quickly launched into crowd favourites Satellite and Don't Drink the Water that showcased lead singer Dave Matthews' signature raw vocals soaring through the dynamic jam of the band's top-class ensemble.
Boyd Tinsley was a violin shaman on stage, while two-time Grammy nominee and legendary lead guitarist Tim Reynolds captivated with his solos.
Carter Beauford, named by Rolling Stone magazine as among the top ten best drummers in the world, was a joy to watch, grooving through Stefan Lessard's steady bass lines. Three-time Grammy Award winner Jeff Coffin brought in the soul along with accomplished trumpeter Rashawn Ross. Coffin took over sax duties from founding member LeeRoi Moore when the latter passed away in 2008.
Kicking off their 2015 summer tour in Abu Dhabi, the show must have been one of the band's most challenging in terms of heat and humidity, with Matthews and the rest of crew struggling through the sweat, yet keeping their cool, busting their hearts and skills out with every song.
Loyal fans in attendance included an Indian national who travelled from Mumbai for the show and a husband and wife from Matthew's hometown Virginia, who have been following the band on tour.
