Dubai's Oud Mateena to get new roads

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has endorsed the award of a Dh60 million contract for constructing internal roads in Oud Al Mateena-2.

The project is part of the five-year-plan (2012-2016) that was approved by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai for paving internal roads in a number of residential districts in Dubai. The overall costs for building the internal roads will touch Dh1 billion.

"Works have recently started on the new project that comprises the construction of an 18-km long road at a width of seven metres roadside parking slots at width of 2.5 metres in a sector extending 8km on both sides of the road street lighting works and storm-water drainage system. The project is set for completion within 10 months" said Mattar Al Tayer Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA.

Last June the RTA awarded contracts for constructing internal roads at Al Barsha South-2 extending 16km rainwater drainage network upgrading electricity and water network installing LED street lights and constructing public parking lots for schools and mosques.

Over the past few years the RTA constructed internal roads in 13 residential areas costing about Dh552 million. Works are underway for constructing internal roads at five residential areas which will cost about Dh319 million.
