Two Palestinians killed in Jerusalem and Gaza Death toll rises to 16
Jerusalem: Two Palestinian youths have been announced martyred during clashes with Israeli Forces on Saturday morning raising the number of martyrs to 16 since the beginning of this month.
Twenty-two year old Jihad Salim al-Ubeid died Saturday morning from wounds sustained after being shot by Israeli snipers during a demonstration Friday.
The young man's death brings the total killed by Israeli forces during demonstrations in Gaza on Friday to seven. The demonstrations were held near the border fence with Israel east of Gaza City and near Khan Younis.
A spokesman for Gaza's ministry of health Ashraf al-Qidra confirmed to Ma'an that al-Ubeid from the Gaza city of Deir al-Balah succumbed to his wounds after being shot and critically injured when Israeli forces opened fire at Palestinians gathered around 100 meters from the border fence.
One hundred and forty-five other Palestinians were injured by live fire or rubber-coated steel bullets during the Gaza demonstrations on Friday according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
Another Palestinian young man was killed on Saturday dawn when Israeli forces attacked protesters from Shuafat refugee camp north of Occupied Jerusalem.
Palestinian local sources said that Ahmed Salah (20) was shot dead by Israeli soldiers during clashes at the entrance of the camp.
Eyewitnesses said that a large number of Israeli soldiers stormed amid intensive gunfire Shuafat camp during the events and opened fire at some homes.
They added that the events turned more violent in the camp after the killing of the young man.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health said on Friday that fourteen Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and around 1000 injured with live and rubber-coated steel bullets in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip since October 1. Saturday's causalities bring the death toll to 16.
