GCC Aid Committee Discusses Humanitarian Situation in Yemen


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) GCC Coordination Committee on Aid to Yemen held today a meeting at the GCC Secretariat-General to discuss humanitarian situation in Yemen, WAM news agency reported.

The Committee reviewed the humanitarian efforts of the GCC countries in Yemen to alleviate suffering of the Yemeni people under the current circumstances.

The Committee checked efforts of institutions, bodies and the GCC development funds working in field of providing assistance and discussed the required mechanisms to strengthen these efforts and the extent of benefit from the material resources allocated by the GCC countries to help Yemen and their efforts to direct projects and provide urgent needs .

The committee was also briefed by representatives of the United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) about a response plan to the humanitarian needs in Yemen prepared by the office.

The GCC committee comprises representatives of the foreign, finance and development and international co-operation ministries, as well as development funds, the GCC Red Crescent Societies and the GCC General-Secretariat.
