Jordan- King urges speedy reform drive

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) His Majesty King Abdullah II, on Wednesday, said political reform drive should proceed without any delay unhindered by turmoil in the region, adding that it was strange that some had come out against the new elections draft law.

"We don't want any delay in the elections law and other legislation that push political reform in the right path", the King said during a meeting with representatives and community leaders of refugee camps.

The King said that Jordan's political position is the strongest since 15 years as the nation enjoys wide appreciation and respect in the East and the West.

Speaking on developments in Jerusalem, His Majesty said Jerusalem is the dearest to his heart and that the protection of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Al-Haram al-Sharim compound is a historical duty and an honor to Jordan.

He added that he spoke with leaders of world countries and made it clear to them that Jerusalem is a red line and that dividing or sharing the mosque is not in "our lexicon".

He also reiterated that Jordan supports a political solution in Syria and Iraq but he said he doesn't see a quick solution to the Syrian crisis any time soon.
