China's capital tourism explodes over holiday break


(MENAFN) Beijing, China's capital, registered USD1.3 billion of tourism earnings over the week-long National Day holiday, growing 7.1 percent from 2014's cited period, based on recent reports.

The city had 2.8 million tourist influxes through the week, who contributed to 80 percent of Beijing's holiday tourism income having spent USD1 billion during the first week of October.

Local residents also funded to the holiday tourism market, thus of the overall 11.5 million sightseeing tours made in the city, 75 percent were by native citizens, as the latest data explained.

Beginning Oct. 1, key tourist destinations in China began imposing limits on the number of visitors, like the Forbidden City in Beijing which limited its daily number of visitors to 80,000, to mainly ensure safety.
