UAE- Sharjah en route to become child friendly

The first Annual GCC Natural Birth and Breastfeeding Conference organized under Patronage of Shaikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi Chairperson of the Sharjah Baby Friendly Campaign (SBFC) concluded in Sharjah recently.

Internationally-acclaimed experts participating at the conference praised the efforts made by Sharjah in promoting a healthy lifestyle for children and their mothers as part of the emirate's commitment towards children's safety and the provision of appropriate environment where mothers can take care of their children at their workplace.

The statement was made during a tour organized by Sharjah Baby Friendly Campaign in collaboration with Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) to 20 international experts doctors and researchers who participated in the event. The conference took place on October 2and 3under the theme: 'Improving birth practices: Empowering educating and encouraging women to have the most positive pregnancy birth and breastfeeding experience'.

The expert tour organized in collaborations with Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) included a visit to Mothers' Room at the Security University City Centre organized in collaboration with Sharjah Community Police Department and visits to Mothers' Rooms at Al Montazah and Al Qasba. The participants and guests were impressed with the rooms designed for mothers and their infants in the public places in Sharjah and with the equipment and facilities provided in compliance with the high standards.
