Saudi- Filipinos warned to obey Kingdom''s laws
(MENAFN- Arab News)RIYADH: The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh has issued an advisory warning all its nationals to obey the Kingdom's laws following the recent detention of a Filipino woman who had allegedly run away from her sponsor and was helping a Syrian man make bombs.
'The Philippine embassy is reminding all its nationals in the Kingdom that Saudi Arabia's laws prohibit gatherings or demonstrations of any kind and for any reason' the release said.
An embassy official said this does not apply to legitimate community events only illegal gatherings and those organized at rest houses that violate the country's laws and customs.
He said the advisory was issued against the backdrop of Filipino workers being arrested for breaking the country's morality laws and consuming alcohol and drugs.
In an earlier statement the Philippine Ambassador Ezzedin Tago had warned Filipino workers that they should obey the country's laws and respect its culture.
Last year seven workers were caught in a drunken state.
On another occasion the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in Riyadh and Tabuk arrested 15 Filipinos three men and 12 women working at a hospital for a similar crime.
