(MENAFN) Iran's state grains agency has offered Europe to barter about 200,000 metric tons of locally-created durum wheat with 250,000 tons of milling wheat.
Iran will not import wheat this year for the first time ever on the back of pleasing state purchases from local farmers and decent harvest.
Durum or macaroni wheat which is mostly used for pasta-making is the hardest of all wheat, which is extensively cultivated across the globe.
In July, the Iranian government smacked import duties on wheat and animal feed barley to discourage buying from overseas, thus encouraging local purchases.
