Backstreet's Back... with a bang

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Backstreet was most assuredly back on Dancing with the Stars this week, with Nick Carter reliving his Backstreet Boys glory days with dance partner Sharna Burgess by performing a routine set to Everybody (Backstreet's Back) - the band's 1997 hit. For this week's theme, Carter chose 1992 as his Most Memorable Year, because it was the year the Backstreet Boys formed. Carter's fellow band members A.J. McLean, Howie Dorough, Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell all appeared in Carter's preview video to share their memories about meeting the singer, who was 12 at the time. "He was still going through puberty - his voice was cracking," McLean wryly recalled, before joining Carter and Burgess in the studio to work on the number's choreography.

Joining the band came at a pivotal time in Carter's life, the singer admitted in his confessional. "I came from a dysfunctional family; there was a lot of fighting in our household, and it broke my heart, I never could fix my family. I really wanted to have that movie mom and dad... it was hard for me," he said, visibly tearing up. "The boys saved me - they loved and treated me like a true brother." Carter's bandmates were in the audience for the sultry routine, which earned unanimous 9 scores from the judges, with Julianne Hough even making herself an "I love Nick" sign from her notepad. After the performance, Carter said of his DWTS experience, "I think it's helping me grow as a human being - it's about being strong in the moment and being able to overcome adversity."
