(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Youth enterprise initiatives constitute effective means that contribute to boosting and diversifying the economy, luring investments and creating new jobs for the youngsters.
Kuwait has recently witnesses a large number of initiatives aimed at providing small entrepreneurs with guidance as well as an adequate space - namely "Serdab Lap" initiative - physically a vast basement where these young businessmen get together for coordination to run their businesses.
"Serdab Lap" aims to bolster economic development, providing an adequate environment for the young citizens to improvise and create new businesses.
Haidar Al-Musawi, one of the founders of the "business basement," indicated in an interview with KUNA that the place allows these inexperienced entrepreneurs to interact, exchange ideas, hold seminars and courses on related technological and commercial affairs.
The initiative was launched due to the market lack of accommodations for gatherings by the entrepreneurs who need to exchange expertise. Such initiatives are well known and widely spread in the United States.
The initiative, launched a year and a half ago, provides guidance by personnel specialized in commerce and technology in the youth ventures, however these entrepreneurs do not get financial assistance.
Providing the youth with such spaces is crucial, considering difficulties in obtaining business permits as well as the soaring prices of properties.
Sahar Abdulrasoul, in charge of the enterprise marketing, told KUNA that the managers are facing difficulties in persuading the youth to get engaged in collective work.
Hind Al-Nahed, of the enterprise, "social lobby," one of the small businesses given a space at the location, said she provides consultation to social media users as how to run their accounts.
Al-Nahed added that she mainly counts on women "who are more effective in using the electronic technology however due to social taboos they abstain from launching their own enterprises." She also affirms that "Serdab Lap" has proven to be an inspiring accommodation for the rookies.
