Qatari Justice Min. urges more GCC legal coordination


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Qatari Minister of Justice Hassan Al-Muhannadi said here on Tuesday that there should be more joint action and coordination among the GCC member states in the field of justice and law amid lingering challenges across the world in general and the Gulf in particular.
In a keynote speech during the 27th meeting of GCC justice ministers, the Qatari minister said: "In light of serious challenges bugging the entire world, particularly the GCC countries, it has become necessary to focus on topics that serve joint interests and fulfill the hopes of our leaders and citizens and residents." He said today's meeting came to shed light on another year of joint Gulf achievements in the fields of justice and law, which would surely contribute to consecrating the GCC leaders' farsightedness and notching up the joint goals, primarily Gulf unity.
On his part, Assistant Secretary-General of the GCC for Legislative and Legal Affairs Ambassador Hamad Al-Merri addressed the gathering by hailing the GCC's constructive accomplishments in the judicial and legal domain.
But, he emphasized that there should be more joint programs and projects that could prop up coordination and cooperation among the GCC member states in this significant realm.
The 27th meeting of GCC justice ministers focuses on a number of topics related to strengthening joint cooperation in the justice and judicial field. It will also review results of undersecretaries' meetings and other key issues of concern to the GCC member states.
