Egypt- 5% decline YoY in August auto sales: AMIC


(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Car sales declined by about 5% year-on-year in August 2015.

According to a recent report by the Automotive Marketing Information Council (AMIC), sales have declined during August to about 25,000 sold cars, compared to 26,500 in August 2014, representing a 5% decline.

Private cars acquired about 69% of the market with total sales of 13,400 cars, compared to 18,500 during the corresponding period of the preceding year, a decline of 6%.

Bus sales declined by 5% year-on-year, recording 2,900 buses sold, compared to 3,000 sold buses last year.

AMIC estimated that 4,700 trucks were sold, compared to the 4,900 trucks sold during August 2014, a decline of about 3%.

The market share of truck sales increased compared to the corresponding period last year, registering 19% of automotive market sales compared to 18%. Bus sales maintained the same rate of 12% of total automotive market sales.
